Singapore's Judicial System

Hello everyone, today I will be posting about Singapore's judicial system. I feel Singapore's judicial system currently is still acceptable. Although other countries around the world disapprove with some of the punishments meted out by the laws of Singapore, I feel that there is no need for them to disapprove and condemn punishments like caning.

Yes, although I agree that caning as a punishment for vandalism is too harsh, but the point of the government to use such harsh punishments for dealing with such crimes is for deterrence. By having such harsh punishments, those who have the intention of committing graffiti or other related crimes would think twice about the punishments they would receive if they were caught. This would make them drop the idea of vandalism, wouldn't it? I think it is a matter of perspective when we look at the judicial system of Singapore. In the viewpoint of other countries, they they disagree to some extent the judicial system of Singapore as they look in the point of view of their people who commit crimes in Singapore such as vandalism (Michael Fay and Oliver Fricker incidents). They think that the Singapore government's ways of punishing their people is harsh and inhumane, thus making them disapprove of the judicial system.

However, in the viewpoint of the Singapore government, I think they view the punishments as a way to let the criminals remember never to commit the crime again, or else the harsh punishment, and also a form of deterrence like I have said previously.

Thus, in overall, I still agree with the judicial system in Singapore. Bye.
